Cornelius Forestry and Land Management is a family business in Goshen, Ohio, started by Rob Cornelius after he cleared his own property and found he had a feel for the work. Rob grew up around heavy equipment as the son of a Caterpillar shop foreman. His son Gavin works with him in the field during summers and breaks, his wife Meg handles the office and customers, and his daughter Bree runs content and marketing.
They focus on rural and semi-rural properties: mulching overgrown woods and fence lines, clearing lots for building, grinding stumps, bush hogging fields, and building or repairing gravel driveways and building pads. They describe their work as land stewardship, mulching material back into the soil instead of piling and burning it.
- Rob walks every jobEach estimate starts with Rob on the property in person, looking at the scope before giving a price.
- Mulch stays on the landTheir mulcher grinds brush and trees in place, so the material goes back into the soil instead of into burn piles.
- A family crewRob runs the work with his son Gavin in the field and his wife and daughter handling the office and marketing.
- Built for rural groundThey stick to farms, acreage and rural homes within 60 miles of Goshen, and take only jobs their equipment suits.

Questions
Practical answers before you call
Straight from Cornelius Forestry and Land Management's own published answers.
Ask them directlyHow much does it cost to clear an acre?
It depends on how dense the growth is, the terrain, access and what happens to the material. Light brush can run a few hundred dollars an acre and dense woods can run into the thousands. Rob prices each job after walking it.
Do they take residential jobs?
Yes. Residential clearing is a core service, mainly rural and semi-rural lots being prepped for building or reclaimed from overgrowth. Call if you are unsure your property fits.
What is the difference between forestry mulching and land clearing?
Land clearing removes trees and debris and hauls them off, leaving bare ground. Forestry mulching grinds everything in place and leaves mulch on the soil, which is usually faster and better for erosion control.
Can stump grinding be added to a clearing job?
Yes. Stumps can be ground flush or below grade during the same visit, which saves a second trip, or handled as a standalone job.
Do they install and repair gravel driveways?
Yes. They build new drives from grading and base through the top layer, and regrade, fill potholes and top-dress existing ones on rural properties and farm lanes.
How far do they travel?
About 60 miles from Goshen, across Clermont, Warren and Clinton counties. For jobs more than 30 to 40 miles out, Rob arranges equipment delivery through Caterpillar to keep mobilization reasonable.
